There is a dire need among youth to have a better understanding of saving and investing as these two habits will eventually determine their financial future. So let us begin exploring with the first step that is learning.

$3.95 Flat-Rate Stock Trades

At times, I wonder why hard working young people don’t even think about letting their money work even harder for them. I know how hard it is to manage money without proper financial knowledge and basic investment skills. It does not matter how hard it is, one cannot simply ignore the fact that managing money is one of the integrals of life.

You might have to learn to sacrifice on many of your expenses now, but doing so will ensure that you have a comfortable life in future. You cannot deny another fact of life that while we are young we have the ability to face challenging situations and hardships to earn our bread and butter and have some fun in life too. But what when we grow old and get weaker, will it be possible to bear similar physical and mental pressures? You are a better judge of it. This is the key reason why one should start financial planning as early as possible.

You might find a different reason to begin early saving and investing. You might want to own a car at some point in future. Saving some money for financial emergencies is important for every individual. Then who wouldn’t want to own a house, and the list goes on. So, when you have identified the reasons why and for when you are starting to save and invest the only thing left is to decide how to invest.

Currently 100 Euros are being sold at around $136 and 100 British pounds would cost you around $160. In the very same row 100 Canadian dollars would cost an individual user around $102. Currency share of the international markets and high commodity demands of the capital assets puts pressure on dominating currencies across the global business markets.

US Dollar gains on global uncertainties

A number of factors are quoted to elaborate the emphasis of dollars in the current trading scenario. Fear is stated to be the primary reason as the dollar gets the biggest favor when currencies of other countries come in the trouble. In the times when debts are on the high end, inclination towards dollar is expected. If we take a look at what happened during the recent recession, the value of US dollar appreciated quite swiftly while the global stocks corrected, despite the fact that dollar was in a long-term downtrend.

What’s factoring currency collapse?

Flying interest rates globally is a key factor behind the depreciating value of dollar. Money that’s being flown in the countries with high inflation and higher interest rates yields more results. Take an instance where a three-month U.S. Treasury bill yields 0.15% in compare to 4.80% for an Australian three-month government bill. In this scenario if Aussie’s dollar gains more value, there should be no surprise at all. Demand and supply gap has also been set as the decisive factor behind the currency fall.

Rebuilding trust in US Dollar

To regenerate the public trust in dollar USA Federal Reserve announced infusion of the policy of quantitative easing. This policy enables Federal Reserve to buy treasury debt worth $600 billion of newly created money in the capital market. This process will keep interest rates low to instigate investors to use their hard earned money use elsewhere. At the time of these elaborations, dollar is still yielding high value against its worth in the end of 2009. If you still feel that dollar will go lower in the further trade, you can think on other investment options available in other finds and currencies available in the market.

Owing to prospective corporate-earnings, building momentum can be seen in the Dogs of the Dow. While you might still be confused about what Dogs are we talking about? They are the big bosses of market or market-rulers, as Intel (INTC) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) are, right now, current runners in the kitty of high dividend-paying giants.

———————————————————————————————–

Terrible iPhone App from TD Ameritrade ($AMTD) iStockManager Forced me to Switch to OptionsHouse

———————————————————————————————–

Well what seems to behind saying them as ‘dogs’? These are perhaps the cherry-picked Company stocks as shunted by none other than the Wall Street. Say, Fido is selling at $20 a share, at a 40 cents annual dividend or 2%. In case, it’s being pushed to the doghouse, and its stock price plunges to $10, say. Now, the investor would be entitled to 4% dividend – 40 cents divided by $10.

If the Wall Street reports are seen, 2010 Dogs have trotted ahead by about 11% this year, with DuPont, and McDonald’s being the biggest gainers at 32% and 23% respectively,

Perhaps the hoopla that surrounds the Dogs of the Dow is of the reason that despite being floored by a staggering 38.8% in 2008, and further, extending loss of 31.9% to the Dow itself, the Dogs didn’t settle down. They made a spellbound comeback in the beginning of 2010.

Well, if you ask experts, even they won’t be able to grasp the dynamics that account for dogs. Contrary to the general trading market, non-performers are booted out from the Dow as was seen in 2009, when the General Motors was seen making a quite exit from the Dow.

Even the credit-crisis kicked many biggies like General electric (GE), Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase, for being failed to deliver the best to the dividend-seekers. Against those times, market dynamics have witnessed many ups and downs. Now, you need to have high-income churning stocks to quell the risk-bearing investors.

Expectantly, the investors are more or less open to learn about the company’s future or more averse with the growth prospects. This is something on which most probably their future investment decision relies, though to an extent.

Nowadays, investors are more into managing their finances, keeping close look on the market movement and growing sentiments. With such astute bent of mind, investors are resilient enough to test waters. Be it an undervalue stock, or over priced share, dogs make swift entry and exit in the Dow.

Although the usual market tactics, both upward and downward, do influence the individual attractive blue-chip stocks, Dogs have the tendency to deliver the best in a sound exponentially rising market. Having said that, if a Company announces revision in its dividend annually, there is no scope of guess, that it has the ingrained value and future growth potential to get place in the esteemed doghouse in the Dow.

It won’t’ be something new to the ears of the ardent investors if I say that crude oil has become an esteemed possession for many of us, but how it has been managed is somewhat intriguing.

With the ongoing tussle between the archaic Libyan Government and revolutionaries, it seems that the uncertainly would not die out any sooner in the mind of global investors who are keeping a shrewd look on the movement of crude oil, waiting to get a chance to join the howling bandwagon.

Even though almost 2% of the global oil production has been badly hit by the unexpected uprising in Libya, an attempt to topple the monarchy of Moammar Gadhafi, the global investors remained hooked to their high-tech trading screens to pull a moment of buying a share of the cheeky crude oil. If fundamentals are to be accounted for, oil somewhere around $80 and $100 was touted to be well seated, even Fred Fromm, portfolio manager of Franklin Natural Resources fund, agree with this.

Well if extent of Arab uprising is picked, supply crunch on Libyan side must have put the already struggling European countries in dock. With no dearth in oil demand at international front, many biggies, including Italy, is in a fix to get refined oil.

Even Tom Kloza, an analyst with Oil Price Information Services in Wall, seems to have refreshing take on the ongoing mystery as he said, “If you’re a heavy-oil refiner in the Midwest, you had a winter to remember”, but “If you’re an Italian light, sweet crude refiner, you’re screwed”.

Above all, oil trading is certainly not for the risk-averse short term investors, as it’s highly dicey to predict ups and lows in crude oil trading under such unpredictable turn of events. Though you have range of bets on oil exchange traded funds be it U.S. Oil (USO), to track the performance of West Texas light, sweet crude oil or if you have Brent in your mind, U.S. Brent Oil (BNO) is for you, a safe game would be to go for at least 10 years of investment instead of a ‘quick-shower approach’.

“In oil-producing countries that have experienced civil wars, the oil industry tends to be (affected) fairly severely,” rightly quoted by Evan Smith, co-manager of the U.S. Global Investors Global Resources fund. Even the industry experts are of consensus to have a smooth sailing in oil instead of a jockey ride, as was seen when reports of death of Gadhafi buzzed the news channels, which was latter defiantly refused by the leader himself.

Weird it many sound to many risk takers, but don’t bet too high on dwindling crude oil. Instead take a well thought approach to get the best out of your investment made in pockets of trading market.

No matter the oil guzzling nations, more or less, are battling for a common cause to win democratic power from the clutches of hard-nose rulers, crude oil, willingly or unwillingly, has become burning ammunition in the hands of on the international trading market.

How has the economic recovery panned out so far?

If you remember, the recovery process stalled within its first year after two quarters of solid growth. The economy remained sluggish despite expectations of a strong follow-through. The economy finally got back on course in the final quarter of the year. The uneven course of this recovery process has left many renowned forecasters confused and the stocks are headed nowhere.

The Dow kept going strong in the early part of this year, though it was shaken by the Japanese disaster in march where stocks took a small pause and then continued to rally till the opening bell in May. At that point the signs that the economy is not living up to the expectations were very much visible. It became apparent from the growth numbers which were expected to be on the higher side at 4%, but the real outcome was shaky as the number remained much lower at 1.8%.

Is the American Economy showing signs of a slowdown again?

Now the things are getting a bit jittery as the major indices have already contracted for six straight weeks and such a decline has not been seen in past eight years. We are already in a soft patch and road ahead is unclear.

All fingers point towards the challenging headwinds faced in early part of this year such as the Middle East crisis, Japan earthquake, current state of housing market and the European debt problem.

Many analysts expected the impact of these headwinds to fade away before any severe damage could be done, but I guess they were wrong again, like any other time in past 3-4 years. So, all in all the current quarter looks like it’s in a pretty bad shape and that it will eventually disappoint. If the scenario doesn’t change quickly then we can’t expect much from the stocks, they will continue to remain weak and traders should not expect much by way of volumes under such a scenario.

What can we expect from the stocks and the economy in second half of 2011?

Forecasters still hold a common view that this thing is temporary and that the economy will get back on track in the second half of this year. Well, it’s not long way to go and we have our eyes on how things will unfold in coming days.

If you ask my opinion on what’s going on and how will it pan out, I would say that this year we can’t expect anything from the economy and even as we head into fiscal 2012, there is higher probability that it will be another soft patch.

Don’t keep any hopes from the monetary policy, it has been stretched too far and there is no more scope for any action now. The end of QE2 will result in sticky high inflation for a much longer period which will result in disappointing consumers and they will restrict from spending.

———————————————————————————————-
